The Fifth Commandment
Invocation
Text/Memory
You shall not murder.
What does this mean? We should fear and love God so that we do not hurt or harm our neighbor in his body, but help and support him in every physical need.
Devotional Thought
The Central Thought
“God created us to care about other people and to help them in their times of need.” Do you remember the story of the Good Samaritan? It’s in Luke 10 and starts at verse 25 if you want to check it out. In the story a man gets hurt and two other men – religious leaders who should have stopped to help him – walked right by. The man who stopped was a Samaritan – someone who was hated at the time! But he created people to care and help others.
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
Blessing
The grace of our Lord + Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all. Amen.
